President Donald Trump doubled down on his data-center advocacy Monday, posting on Truth Social that communities rejecting the facilities risk being “backwards and poor,” while those that embrace them will be “successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place.”
Trump warned that “China could not be happier with this anti Data Center movement,” framing local opposition as a gift to Beijing, adding "Let Data Reign.”
Trump added that “there are plenty of other places that want them,” warning that “if we kill the Golden Goose, you will only have yourselves to blame.”
The post extends weeks of pushback from Trump against local moratoriums, including New York Governor Kathy Hochul‘s pause on new construction, and comes as roughly seven in 10 Americans tell pollsters they oppose data centers near their homes.
Regardless of where the political fight lands, the AI infrastructure buildout Trump is defending remains one of the market’s dominant themes.
