The Telangana High Court will hear on Tuesday the appeal filed by the State government against a single judge’s order staying implementation of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.Earlier on Monday, the bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin overruled the objections raised by the HC Registry over the appeal petition and directed it to allot the number for hearing. On August 12, the single judge passed an interim direction staying operation of eight Government Orders (GOs) through which financial assistance was being extended to unmarried women belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward classes, minorities and physical challenged groups under the two schemes.The stay order was passed after hearing contentions in a writ petition filed by a practicing HC advocate Vijay Gopal, who challenged the constitutional validity of the two schemes. Eventually, the judge removed the stay order against GO Ms. No. 4, one of the GOs, following an implead petition filed by MIM MLAs.Advocate General A. Sudarshan Reddy, presenting his contentions on Monday, said implementation of the two schemes would not affect the petitioner in anyway.
