P. Senthilnathan, director of GEM Hospital Chennai, has assumed the role of president of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). At the recent swearing-in ceremony in Kolkata, Dr. Senthilnathan introduced his vision under the banner, “A New Vision. A New Journey. A Stronger AMASI”. He also outlined an eight-point strategic focus for his term, including academic excellence, training the next generation of surgeons, innovation and technology adoption, research and collaboration, strengthening membership, and establishing AMASI SMART Centres. A key priority will be to strengthen training opportunities for surgeons from government medical colleges, hands-on training, and skill development in minimal access surgery.
