The AIIMS Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) 2026 was disrupted at two examination centres in Jaipur on August 31 after internal power supply problems affected the TCS-operated iON Digital Zone at Sitapura. The exam was conducted to fill 1,484 Group B and Group C non-faculty posts.AIIMS New Delhi has cancelled the examination at the two centres and scheduled a re-examination for September 7, 2026, citing the need to protect the interests of affected candidates and maintain the fairness and integrity of the recruitment process.The affected centres were RJ0101 and RJ0102 at the iON Digital Zone, Sitapura. The examination began at 9 am as scheduled, but internal power-related disruptions subsequently affected the conduct of the test.According to details shared regarding the examination by the institute, around 2,000 candidates were registered across the two centres. Of these, 1,342 candidates appeared at RJ0101, while 436 candidates appeared at RJ0102.AIIMS has ordered for a reexamination on September 7 and directed TCS to submit a detailed report on the incident. The agency has also been asked to preserve relevant system logs, CCTV footage and control-room communications to facilitate a comprehensive assessment of what occurred at the centres.Same Jaipur centre had power issues during NEET-PGThe disruption comes just a day after a similar power-related problem was reported at the same iON Digital Zone, Sitapura centre in Jaipur during the NEET-PG 2026 examination.The NEET-PG examination was conducted nationwide on August 30 for more than 2.63 lakh candidates across 1,111 centres. TCS iON, which handled the technology and examination infrastructure, said that a single centre — the iDZ Sitapura centre in Jaipur — experienced internal power failures during the examination because of unknown local electrical issues.In a statement, TCS iON Business Unit Head Venguswamy Ramaswamy said the vendor teams responsible for electrical maintenance were working urgently to resolve the problem and that measures were being put in place to prevent a recurrence.TCS said it regretted the inconvenience caused to candidates appearing for both the NEET-PG and AIIMS CRE examinations at the centre and was working with the respective authorities to ensure that affected candidates could complete their examinations at the earliest.Published on August 31, 2026
