High Court petition: Records show HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) filed a bankruptcy petition at the High Court against former Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher.
The formal legal document explicitly names him by his full legal name, James Lee Duncan Carragher, while listing him as a litigant in person during the proceedings.
Statement from Carragher's team: “This is a private tax matter that should have been resolved sooner, and the appropriate steps are being taken today to settle it.
It is understood that the matter will not proceed any further, and will be resolved imminently," a spokesperson told the Mirror .
HMRC response: HMRC declined to comment on individual cases due to confidentiality laws.
