A tropical storm warning has been issued along the northwestern Gulf Coast as a storm takes shape and heads toward Texas and Louisiana.
An area of rain and thunderstorms near the Louisiana coast has been designated Potential Tropical Cyclone Five by the National Hurricane Center. It’s a label used for systems that haven’t formed yet but are expected to bring tropical storm conditions to land.
The system is forecast to become Tropical Storm Edouard on Monday night, move inland near the Texas-Louisiana border on Tuesday and dissipate by Wednesday. Tropical storm conditions – gusty winds and heavy rain could begin as soon as Tuesday morning.
A tropical storm warning extends east from Port Bolivar, Texas, to the Vermilion-Cameron Parish border in Louisiana.
Heavy rainfall is the biggest impact from this system regardless of what it’s called.
