Telangana Rakshana Sena chief K. Kavitha at a meeting in Nizamabad on Monday.
Telangana Rakshana Sena chief K. Kavitha became emotional during her first visit to Nizamabad after launching her new political party, seeking to reconnect with the people of the district that she represented in the Parliament.Breaking down several times during her speech at a public meeting, Ms. Kavitha said, “Do not mistake my tears for weakness. An ordinary woman sheds tears when she is hurt, but that does not mean she is a coward.”She recalled that she had been elected as an MP and later as an MLC with the support of Nizamabad people, she referred to her arrest and the investigations by the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI for no fault of hers.“I was put in Tihar jail without committing any mistake. For four years, the ED and CBI troubled me, but my courage never wavered and I did not deviate from my path,” she said. She also claimed that the Supreme Court had vindicated her stand.Ms. Kavitha launched a sharp attack on several former BRS colleagues, particularly former Minister V. Prashanth Reddy, Armoor MLA Jeevan Reddy and former Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Goverdhan. She blamed them for her defeat in the Lok Sabha election and alleged that those whom she had helped politically had ultimately worked against her.She was particularly critical of Mr. Prashanth Reddy, accusing him of playing a key role in the political developments that led to her and her father K. Chandrasekhar Rao being side-lined. “I may forgive Harish Rao and Santosh Rao, but I will never forgive Prashanth Reddy,” she said, using strong language against him.Ms. Kavitha also alleged that Mr. Prashanth Reddy had sought to join the Congress soon after the BRS lost power. She questioned the BRS MLAs’ silence over the Congress government’s performance, asking why they had not mounted protests over issues such as floods in Bodhan.
