Saudi Arabia just made its biggest bet yet on autonomous vehicles. Humain, the sovereign AI company established under the Public Investment Fund, has announced a strategic partnership with US-based Applied Intuition to deploy self-driving trucks across the Kingdom by 2030.
The collaboration, announced on August 31, marks the first planned deployment of what both companies are calling “physical AI” in Saudi Arabia.
What the deal looks like
Humain, founded on May 12, 2025, by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and led by CEO Tareq Amin, was built to serve as Saudi Arabia’s national AI infrastructure and cloud services company. Its portfolio includes Arabic-language AI models like the ALLAM large language model.
Applied Intuition has been developing vehicle intelligence systems and has already demonstrated working autonomous truck operations in Japan since 2025, collaborating with Isuzu on real-world deployments.
