A small Texas city just gave decentralized infrastructure its most compelling real-world proof point yet. Celina, Texas, currently the fastest-growing city in the US by percentage, has integrated its existing municipal Wi-Fi into Helium’s decentralized wireless network, and the market’s response has been anything but subtle.

HNT, the native token of Helium Network, surged from around $0.21 to approximately $0.44 following the announcement, with daily trading volume spiking over 1,000% to between $38 million and $44 million. That price move represents gains in the range of 73% to 130% depending on entry point, turning a token that had been quietly grinding sideways into one of the week’s biggest movers on Solana.

Why Celina matters more than your average pilot program

The city experienced a 24.6% year-over-year population increase, adding more than 12,700 new residents between July 2024 and July 2025. The integration covers key municipal locations including the public library and senior center. No new towers were required, which is the whole point of what Helium calls a “brownfield deployment.” Rather than building new infrastructure from scratch, the network layers its decentralized carrier-grade offload capabilities onto existing Wi-Fi installations.
