Women residents of Erahanahalli village near Thalavadi staged a road blockade with empty pots on Monday (August 31, 2026), demanding immediate supply of drinking water. Traffic on the Erahanahalli road was affected for about an hour.More than 300 families reside in the village, which comes under Diginarai panchayat. The residents said drinking water had not been supplied to the village for the past few months. They had been fetching water from nearby agricultural fields, but the water sources there had also started drying up. Despite repeated representations to the panchayat administration, no steps had been taken to address the issue, the residents alleged.Following the protest, officials from the panchayat administration reached the spot and held talks with the residents. The officials said borewells in the area had dried up owing to the lack of rain and that attempts to drill new borewells had also failed to yield water.The officials assured the residents that drinking water would be supplied through tanker lorries as an interim measure.
