In the final leg of the three week FedEx Cup Playoffs there was a debate among players and media as to who would be the Player of the Year?Most thought of names being brought up were names like Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, and of course Scottie Scheffler. Even though Scheffler only had two wins this season, and no major championships among those two victories, many thought it would be someone else’s year to win Player of the Year. Scottie Scheffler put an exclamation point on his season with a 3-shot victory at the Tour Championship, and cemented his name as the likely 2026 Player of the Year. Sunday at the Tour Championship Scheffler started the day with a three-shot deficit, but wasted little time making a move over then leader Viktor Hovland. Down the stretch Hovland was fighting his swing, and Scheffler was putting the pedal down. It equated in another Scheffler Tour Championship victory, and further evidence of his dominance on the PGA Tour.
