A teenage cyclist has died after being hit by a car - seeing the driver arrested.The 16-year-old boy was fatally struck near Birmingham City Stadium in Small Heath in the early hours of Friday morning.The smash happened at the junction of Cattell Road and Templefield Street, West Midlands police said.The schoolboy was rushed to hospital but sadly could not be saved and died.His family are being supported by specialist officers.A man, 47, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.He is being held in police custody. A police spokesperson said: 'Our thoughts are with his loved ones who are being supported and updated by specialist officers. A 16-year-old boy was fatally struck near Birmingham City Station in Small Heath in the early hours of Friday morning'We are still urging anyone who has information or footage to get in touch with us.'They added that enquiries are continuing.A police cordon was in place at the scene outside the football ground on Friday.West Midlands Police previously said that they believed a silver Vauxhall Astra abandoned at the scene was involved in the incident.
