The vessel is believed to be the catamaran-style Filo Jet, measuring more than 40 metres long and 10 metres wide. Kyrenia Mayor Murat Senkul said the vessel belonged to Filo Denizcilik ferry company.
At least six people have died after a passenger ferry carrying about 270 people capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus.
CNN Turk, citing Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel, reported that six people had died in the incident. The number of injured and the condition of other passengers remained unclear as of Sunday.
