Studying abroad can be a major life-changing decision, but for married students and parents, choosing countries with a spouse visa can make it easier to avoid leaving their loved ones behind.
However, international students do not face the same family restrictions in every destination. Several countries allow eligible students to apply for dependant visas or residence permits that enable their spouses and children to join them during their studies.
The rules differ from one country to another, with some destinations also allowing accompanying spouses to work.
The UK, for instance, has significantly tightened its dependant visa rules, with most international students no longer permitted to bring family members unless they meet specific conditions.
