Thousands of MBA and MCA aspirants in the State are urging the government and the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) to conduct a special phase of ICET counselling, over undeclared revaluation results by Osmania University and many seats being left vacant.Students claim that the official portal — tgicet.nic.in — shows 16,413 convener seats vacant across MBA and MCA courses in the State. Despite the availability of these seats, the counselling process is reportedly being closed without providing the special phase to eligible candidates, they claim.The situation is particularly difficult for candidates awaiting Osmania University degree revaluation and recounting results. Many such students are unable to obtain their pass memos and consequently face uncertainty over their eligibility and participation in the admission process.“We could lose an entire academic year through no fault of our own. We have completed our exams and are only waiting for the results,” they said in the several letters appealing to authorities.Aspirants also argue that closure of convener counselling could push students towards spot admissions, where the applicable Telangana ePASS Tuition Fee Reimbursement (RTF) benefits may not be available. It is a major concern for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Students from SC, ST, BC, EWS and other low-income groups fear they could face additional tuition burden of more than ₹1.2 lakh a year.The immediate demand is that TGCHE conduct a special phase and Osmania University release the pending results at the earliest, so that eligible students do not lose an academic year or financial support due to administrative delays.
