Goshamahal police arrested a man who allegedly cheated a woman of ₹2.25 lakh by promising to provide job-related training and collecting money from her on different pretexts.The accused was identified as Chakali Praveen Kumar, a resident of Nandharkannpet in Shabad mandal, Rangareddy district. He was arrested on August 29 and produced before the court.According to the police, the complainant, Pokala Vaishnavi, approached Chakali Praveen Kumar through Instagram in 2025 after he offered training and job-related opportunities. He allegedly explained the training and expenses and later visited her house on February 22, 2025, where he collected ₹1.5 lakh towards training expenses after executing a bond paper.In May 2025, he allegedly collected another ₹50,000 towards document verification. On July 9, 2025, he allegedly contacted her again and demanded ₹25,000 towards a DD ID, following which she transferred the amount online.Police said Praveen collected a total of ₹2.25 lakh but subsequently failed to respond properly to the woman’s calls. She approached the Goshamahal police, following which a case was registered under Section 318(4) of the BNS. Published - August 30, 2026 08:14 pm IST
