A 30-year-old software engineer was arrested by the Amberpet police for cheating a woman of ₹2.30 lakh by luring her with a fake job offer circulated through social media.The accused, T. Kishore, a resident of Kukatpally and native of Nizamabad, was arrested in connection with a case registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.According to police, the accused contacted the complainant, Priya, through Facebook and offered her a purported job opportunity. He allegedly sent forged joining orders through WhatsApp and induced her to transfer money into bank accounts on the pretext of processing the recruitment.During the investigation, police seized ₹2 lakh in cash, SIM cards, debit cards and a mobile phone from his possession.Of the total cheated amount of ₹2.30 lakh, ₹2 lakh had been recovered while another ₹25,000 had been put on hold, officials said. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.Police said further investigation was underway to ascertain whether he was involved in similar online job fraud cases.
