Roméo Lavia has been waiting a long time for this one. The Belgian midfielder notched his first-ever goal for Chelsea, pouncing on a mistake from Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to break his scoring duck in blue.
The goal and Verbruggen’s nightmare
Verbruggen, Brighton’s young Dutch goalkeeper, made an error that left the ball vulnerable in a dangerous area. Lavia was in the right place to capitalize and put the ball in the net.
Verbruggen has had multiple difficult outings against Chelsea, including conceding an own goal during a cup tie earlier this year. Verbruggen remains Brighton’s first-choice keeper.
