OLONGAPO CITY — A three-year-old boy went missing after rushing floodwaters swept through his family’s home near a river in Villa Meranda, Old Cabalan Forestry, Olongapo City, authorities said Sunday, Aug. 30.

In a phone interview, Jeffrey Lapid, head of the Olongapo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said the boy was being held by one of his parents when a wall above their house suddenly collapsed, sending a strong surge of water toward the home.

The impact caused the parent to lose grip of the child, who Lapid said was carried away by the floodwaters.
