All Blacks coach Dave Rennie said he had no issue with the late changes to the Springbok front row before kick-off this past Saturday in Cape Town.
New Zealand head coach Dave Rennie had no gripe with the Springboks changing their team an hour before kick-off and said it had no effect on his team in their 33-26 loss in Cape Town on Saturday.
Rennie was full of praise for his side’s fighting spirit after they came within a score of levelling the second Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Test at the DHL Stadium.
Eventually, the Boks held out to complete a turnaround from the first loss at Ellis Park to level the series 1-1 with two Tests to go. But the visitors fought back valiantly in the final 15 minutes to put the world champions under massive pressure in the dying seconds. They scored two late tries, but the Springboks’ defence held strong to keep them out.
“I guess when you name the team on Monday, there’s a chance that there’s going to be changes. So, to be fair, look, we took minimal notice of the team on Monday because there’s a chance that it’s going to be different on Saturday,” Rennie said.
