The Hawks have arrested a 37-year-old suspect in connection with an investigation into alleged multimillion-rand tender fraud at Tembisa Hospital.

The Serious Corruption Investigation team arrested the suspect at OR Tambo International Airport on Friday, August 28, 2026, when he returned from overseas.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said the suspect is alleged to have been part of the complex investigation into fraud linked to the hospital’s procurement process.

The Tembisa Hospital cases involve allegations of fraud, corruption, forgery and/or uttering, contraventions of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and money laundering.

It is alleged that certain hospital officials colluded with service providers to exploit the Request for Quotations (RFQs) system for procurement transactions below the R500,000 threshold.
