The departments of pathology and physiology of the medical faculty of KBN University organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on ‘Inside the Marrow: Bridging Haematopoiesis and Haematopathology’ on Saturday.Speaking as the chief guest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the university Ashfaq Ahmed stressed the need to organise CME programmes in a meaningful manner so that they would benefit society. He said it was important not only to prepare reports of such programmes but also to undertake follow-up studies over a period of time. KBN University was planning to publish the proceedings of its CME programmes in the form of a book, he added.Medical Dean Gurupasad congratulated the organisers, while senior consultant pathologist and president of the Kalaburagi Pathology Association A.V. Deshmukh said the CME would be beneficial to students and help them acquire new skills.IQAC director Abdul Basheer said organising CME programmes was a continuous process and appreciated the initiative.Around 250 participants registered for the programme. A quiz competition and various academic sessions were held.KBN hospital superintendent Siddalinga Chengati and other faculty members and students were present.
