Baton Rouge | The Australian-backed infrastructure fund Stonepeak landed a $US900 million ($1.3 billion) payday by selling a cut of future revenues from Woodside’s Louisiana LNG plant to a former offshore wind developer that the Trump administration forced to invest in fossil fuel or nuclear projects.
The under-the-radar deal with German utility company RWE has erupted in controversy after the Washington Post revealed Stonepeak as a party to the transaction and highlighted Australian founder Mike Dorrell’s links to US President Donald Trump, including attending his private resort Mar-a-Lago and donating $US 1 million to his inauguration fund.
