A 40-year-old woman was found murdered near an agricultural field at Thottareddykuppam village in Tiruvallur on Friday morning.On receiving information, an Uthukottai police team, led by Inspector Devaraj, rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.The deceased have been identified as Aruna, 40, of Savarampakkam village in Andhra Pradesh. The police seized a mobile phone found near her body.Aruna had come to stay at a relative’s house in Vadattur Kandigai village near Thamaraipakkam Junction. She was allegedly strangled to death. Her thali and earrings were found intact, raising questions about the motive behind the murder. Investigation is under way to ascertain the circumstances that led to the killing and identify the perpetrator.Police sources also suspect that acid was used in the killing.
