Lucid $LCID Group is recalling 27,185 Air sedans in the United States after regulators warned that a faulty exterior lighting circuit poses an overheating and fire hazard, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Friday.
Beyond fire, the NHTSA warned that the same circuit fault could knock out a vehicle's exterior lights, potentially raising the likelihood of a collision. NHTSA urged vehicle owners to keep their cars parked outdoors and clear of buildings while awaiting a remedy.
According to the NHTSA, Lucid has pushed out an over-the-air software patch, and the agency has confirmed that 20,719 affected vehicles have already downloaded it.
