MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday said it is awaiting confirmation from Nepali authorities on a Filipino national reported missing after a glacial collapse triggered a massive debris flow, sending water, mud, rock and ice surging through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border. on Wednesday.
DFA spokesperson Analyn Ratonel said the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi and the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu are coordinating with local authorities and are ready to assist Filipinos affected by the disaster.
“They are awaiting confirmation from Nepali authorities on a Filipino national who is reported missing,” Ratonel said in a message to reporters.
