Alex Pantling/Getty ImagesAug. 28, 2026 8:55 am EDT Updated Michael Carrick is hopeful Carlos Baleba could feature for Manchester United before next month’s international break but did not confirm when the £65million signing from Brighton & Hove Albion will be fit to make his debut.The United head coach also said Amad Diallo will not be available to face Ipswich Town this weekend and also has the same view on the winger playing before the break which comes after their Premier League clash with Fulham on September 20.But Mason Mount is back in training and in contention to feature at Old Trafford on Sunday when United host newly-promoted Ipswich.Baleba, 22, signed for United earlier this week but has been nursing an ankle injury picked up during pre-season with Brighton. United don’t play after the international break until they face Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.“He’s got a little ankle issue,” Carrick said. “So, maybe a couple of weeks or so, maybe three weeks, we’ll see. But we knew that before, so it’s no major issue. It’ll be great to have him back when we can.”Amad missed last weekend’s surprise defeat at Hull City after picking up a knock in training and is going to be out for a “little longer”.When asked if Baleba and Amad would feature before the three-week international break, Carrick added: It’s obviously new, you know, having the break to deal with. But we’ll wait and see. We’ll wait and see. We’re hopeful, but I don’t want to put any deadlines on it just yet.”Mount missed the final two pre-season games and last weekend’s opening game at Hull with what was described as a minor issue.The England midfielder returned to team training this week and will be in the squad for the weekend.Carrick added: “Mason’s back around the group, which is great. Trained this week. So that’s a real positive for us.”
