The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has suspended bulk power transmission to Niamey, Niger Republic, through the 132kV Birnin Kebbi-Niamey transmission line following the collapse of three transmission towers.

TCN, in a statement on Friday, said it had declared force majeure on the affected transmission line after towers T109, T110 and T111 collapsed at Chibike village in Kebbi State.

The company said the line tripped at 5:38pm on August 26, 2026, while a trial reclosure carried out at 6:03pm was unsuccessful as the line tripped instantly.
