Drivn joined hands with SwitchLabs, a Delhi-based company, for its end-to-end electric truck-as-a-service solutions. Drivn, Tata Motors and SwitchLabs recently signed a binding agreement to commission all 150 electric trucks under a single project.
Drivn claims this is the largest order for electric heavy-duty trucks in India. The company will procure the electric trucks from Tata Motors, while SwitchLabs will operate the fleet. In the next phase, Drivn aims to grow the size of the fleet under this partnership from 150 to 1,000 units.
“Through this partnership, we intend to deploy over 1,000 electric trucks over the next two years, offering fleet operators a clearer and more scalable path to electrification while contributing to the broader growth of the EV ecosystem in India,” said Manav Bansal, the CEO and Co-founder of Drivn. “With Tata Motors’ strong market presence, fleet operators gain trust and access as we are getting the elements of maintenance of vehicles, uptime as a joint commitment from OEM and combining technology to monitor efficiencies,” said Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer at Drivn.
None of the three companies has revealed the project’s estimated value or key operational details, such as which truck models will be deployed or where they will be operated. Tata Motors sells two electric heavy-duty trucks in India: Prima E.28K and Prima E.55S. The Prima E.28K is a 28-tonne model, available only as a 6×4 tipper with a 235 kW or 470 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 300 kWh or 450 kWh LFP battery pack. Depending on the configuration, it can cover a distance of 120 to 200 kilometres.
