French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to London on Wednesday to inaugurate an exhibition at the British Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry, the 11th-century work depicting William the Conqueror's conquest of England, the Elysée said on Friday.
Macron will also hold a "first in-depth exchange" on Thursday with Britain's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham, the presidency said.
He is expected to have "an opportunity to greet King Charles", a presidential adviser added, without providing details.
The main purpose of the visit is "the inauguration of the exhibition marking the loan of the Bayeux Tapestry to the British Museum", which a presidential adviser described as "a particularly significant moment" for Franco-British relations and one personally championed by Macron.
The French leader hopes to highlight the "exceptional loan" of the work, which left France for the first time in over 900 years when it was transported to London under tight security.
