On the night of August 28, Ukrainian defense forces struck the “Slavneft-YANOS” oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia. A fire was reported on the refinery’s premises

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

“Slavneft-YANOS” is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries and is part of the public joint-stock company “Slavneft.” Its capacity is approximately 15 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

In addition to carrying out a full cycle of oil refining, this plant produces automotive gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, lubricants, and other petroleum products.
