A tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire that was subsequently extinguished, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO said local authorities reported that the incident occurred on 25th August. All crew members were reported safe, while authorities were investigating the circumstances of the incident and the origin of the projectile.
The maritime security agency advised vessels operating in and around the Strait of Hormuz to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity, citing a heightened threat environment in the region.
