Baha’i Student Studying Abroad Detained at Airport and Arrested Days Later in Isfahan

According to information obtained by IranWire, Sarir Mouqen, a Baha’i citizen, has been arrested in Isfahan.

Based on reports received, at around 8:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, twelve plainclothes agents from the Ministry of Intelligence raided the home of the family of Vahid Mouqen, a Baha’i citizen residing in Isfahan, while in possession of a search warrant.

The agents searched the house until approximately 12:30 PM, confiscating a large quantity of the family’s personal belongings, including all electronic devices, cash, gold, wedding rings, a piano, household chairs, a toolbox, an air pump, and various work-related equipment.

At the conclusion of the operation, Sarir Mouqen, the family’s young daughter, was arrested and transferred to the detention facility at Dowlatabad Prison in Isfahan.

IranWire has learned that Sarir Mouqen, who has been studying in China for the past two years, was detained for several hours at the airport immediately upon arriving in Iran a few days prior, where agents confiscated her passport and mobile phone. In response to her inquiries, agents told her, “We will inform you later.”
