Amit Bhatia says buying part of Liverpool is “the stuff of dreams” as he vowed to help bring more success to “the greatest club in the world”.The British-Indian businessman, who is leading the consortium which recently agreed a deal with owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) for a 38 per cent stake in Liverpool, will attend Saturday’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at Anfield with his family.Bhatia was invited by FSG principal owner John Henry as he awaits regulatory approval for the investment from 1892 Holdings, which also includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.“We’re talking about the greatest football club in the world so to have the ability to be involved in any capacity is a huge privilege and a huge honour,” Bhatia told LFCTV. “There’s just so much to admire, so much to frankly be in awe of.“It’s subject to all kinds of regulatory approvals that we’re going through, but the fact that we’ve been potentially welcomed in by FSG to be part of such an iconic football club like Liverpool, it’s the stuff of dreams.“Over a period of time we’ve got to know the ownership group at Liverpool very well and I consider them the best owners in sports. I consider them people of the highest integrity that always put the interests of the club first.”Bhatia also spoke of the “enormous responsibility” the ownership group had towards the club and its fanbase.If the investment is approved then Bhatia will become Liverpool’s new vice-chairman and sit on an expanded board of directors, along with Elaine Saverin from EE Capital and Bryan Baum of K5 Sports. Bezos will not have a seat on the board and will not be attending Saturday’s game against Forest.Bhatia, who was previously co-owner of Championship club Queens Park Rangers, added: “My involvement would be in any capacity that FSG felt that we could be useful to them. We come from different geographies, we come from different professions, and hopefully with that you bring different experiences and ideas, different thoughts.“We believe that the potential for the football club is still vast ahead of us and we have had some discussions with FSG as to those thoughts.“Hopefully if everything goes well, our association with the club will be for a long period of time. We’re very excited to see what the future holds for us in that regard.”
