Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, urged women in the built environment sector to unite and collaborate, as they increasingly redefine their roles in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Simelane made the call when she delivered a speech during the second Women Who Build the Nation Summit hosted by the Housing Development Agency (HDA) at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton on Thursday, which celebrated the critical contributions women make to the sector.
Held under the theme "Women at the Centre of Development, Growth and Nation Building", the summit attracted a host of prominent women leaders, including Dr Samke Ngcobo, Tamlyn Bouwer, Toni Gumede, Nicolette Mashile, and Nomfundo Fakudze.
The summit programme included women leaders from several parts of the sector.
