The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy decreased to 3.4% in July 2026 from 5.0% in the previous month, according to the Bank of Greece (BoG).The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 9.0% in July 2026 from 8.8% in the previous month, BOG added.Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €2,013 million in July 2026, compared with an increase of €8,573 million in the previous month.More specifically:Ι. In July 2026, the monthly net flow of bank credit to the general government was negative by €1,367 million, compared with a positive net flow of €213 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to -2.0% from 0.4% in the previous month.Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
In July 2026, the annual growth rate of bank credit to the private sector decreased to 6.8% from 7.7% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was negative by €2,593 million, compared with a positive net flow of €3,287 million in the previous month.Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
