Household deposits in Bulgarian banks exceeded €56 billion at the end of June, although the pace of savings growth showed signs of slowing, according to the latest data released by the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB).

Household deposits rose 18.6% year-on-year to €56.47 billion, remaining at historically high levels despite a slight moderation from the 19.3% annual growth recorded in May.

Business deposits, however, continued to accelerate. Savings held by non-financial corporations increased 11% from a year earlier to €26.63 billion by the end of the first half of 2026, up from an annual growth rate of 10.2% in the previous month.

Deposits held by financial corporations grew at a more modest pace, rising 3.8% year-on-year to €2.36 billion. The increase marked a sharp slowdown from the 13.9% growth reported in May.
