The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Alumni Association and the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society have mourned the death of veteran journalist and publisher, Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, describing his passing as a major loss to journalism and the media community.
The MAPOLY alumni association said Oladipo, who died at 56, was a distinguished member of the institution’s 1992 Mass Communication graduating class and remained a worthy ambassador of his alma mater.
In a statement by its National Public Relations Officer, Ganiyu Olowu, the National President, Ayinde Soaga, said Oladipo’s death was particularly painful given his experience and continued relevance to journalism.
The association said the late journalist built a career spanning several major Nigerian media organisations, including Newswatch, The PUNCH, Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass and The Sun, before establishing The Eagle Online.
Soaga said Oladipo’s contribution went beyond the positions he occupied, noting that he earned respect through his professionalism, leadership and relationships across the industry.
