SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Six Aeta indigenous people, including three children, died on Thursday, after the boat they were riding capsized in Mapanuepe Lake in San Marcelino town, Zambales.
Liza Balario, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of Barangay Buhawen in San Marcelino, told the Inquirer that the victims were residents of the Aeta community in Sitio Lomibao, which is located across the lake from the main part of the barangay.

Residents of the community there have to cross the lake by boat to reach the barangay proper, where the community health center is located. The trip usually takes about 30 minutes.
