Mohsen Namjoo, the Iranian singer and composer, announced his return to Iran after nearly two decades abroad by publishing a video message.

In a video released on Thursday, August 27, Namjoo stated that by the time the footage was published, he would either be on a flight to Tehran or have already landed in Iran.

Referencing a recent interview with Billboard magazine, he explained that after years of living abroad, being in Iran alongside his family and friends has become far more important to him than continuing his musical and cultural activities.

Namjoo noted in the video that even if he can no longer pursue music or artistic work, it does not matter to him, adding: “What matters is being there, in my homeland, beside my friends, my family, my sisters, and my relatives.”

Judicial, security, and Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance officials have not yet issued any statements clarifying the circumstances surrounding Namjoo’s arrival, the status of his past legal cases, or the possibility of his continued artistic activity in Iran.
