Four persons have faced rejection so far for enrolment in the final rolls during the first level of scrutiny as part of the ongoing process of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana.Two of the rejections are in Malkajgiri constituency, and two more in Nagarkurnool, as per the data available with the Chief Electoral Officer on Thursday (August 27). Over 2,200 hearings have been conducted so far, and 106 electors have been verified.After conclusion of Enumeration Phase on August 10, and publication of Draft Electoral Rolls, the notice phase has begun along with the period for disposal of claims and objections on August 17. This will continue up to October 15, till four days before the publication of final rolls.The draft rolls were published with 2,64,87,213 electors, of whom 92,87,577 were isolated for issue of notices. These include 32,36,659 unmapped electors who did not provide their details from the SIR 2002 rolls in their enumeration forms. The remaining 60,50,918 voters were listed under anomalies/logical discrepancies, majority of whom are reportedly name and age mismatches when compared with the previous SIR.CEO C. Sudharshan Reddy said the electors whose forms have been rejected will have the opportunity to appeal. The first appeal will be to the District Election Officer concerned, within 15 days of rejection, and second appeal will be to the CEO, within 30 days of the second rejection.While hearings with respect to the notices served are yet to begin at several places, they have already taken off in about a third of the 119 constituencies. So far, a total 92,10,218 notices have been generated with respect to the electors who were listed for hearings with the Electoral Registration Officers or Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. The number of notices actually delivered to the electors, however, is only a minor fraction at 8,84,462.Daily targets have been fixed for the EROS and AEROs, so that the process could be completed in time, Mr. Reddy informed.
