The singer-songwriter played Parton's classic during the intro to "Gravity"
During his SiriusXM concert at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, John Mayer honored Dolly Parton by performing a tender rendition of her 1974 hit, “I Will Always Love You.”
The singer-songwriter and guitarist delivered the electric cover during the intro to his 2006 single “Gravity,” before diving into his closer for the night.
Prior to the show, Bravo magnate and Mayer’s friend Andy Cohen introduced the singer, calling the show “the hardest ticket in the Hamptons for many years.” Over two hours, Mayer, joined by a full band, delivered a career-spanning set, though drawing strongly from 2006’s Continuum (“Belief,” “I Don’t Trust Myself (With Loving You),” “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room”) and 2021’s Sob Rock (show opener “Last Train Home,” “I Guess I Just Feel Like,” “Wild Blue,” and “New Light”). The encore also included Mayer’s poignant cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.”
