LUCENA CITY — Police arrested three men who were allegedly involved in fuel theft, locally known as “paihi,” during an early morning operation on Thursday (Aug. 27) in the Cavite municipality of Kawit.
Police officers were conducting their routine patrol when they caught the suspects in the act of siphoning fuel from a parked Isuzu tractor head in Barangay Pulvorista at around 1 a.m., the Calabarzon police said.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers saw the suspects use a hose to transfer diesel from the tractor head into containers.
Authorities said about 450 liters of diesel worth P36,000 had already been siphoned into 18 containers. Another 28 empty containers, several hoses, and a Mitsubishi L300 van were also found at the scene.
