Propagandists fabricated an IT blogger to discredit the Ukrainian President with claims of his alleged “involvement in corruption.”
A Russian Telegram channel posing as a local Odesa-based outlet is circulating a video bearing the logo of the European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat. The video claims that 7,480 people from various European countries took part in a poll, with 70.8% allegedly believing that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is involved in corruption schemes being investigated by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).
This is fake. No such study with these results appears on Eurostat’s official resources, and searches for the wording of the question and the figures cited in the video found no evidence of such a poll.
Public opinion research in the EU is conducted under the Eurobarometer program, while Eurostat is the EU’s statistical office, which coordinates and harmonizes statistics within the European Statistical System in cooperation with national statistical authorities and other participants.
Eurostat regularly publishes statistics related to Ukraine, including data on Ukrainians granted temporary protection in EU countries.
