ALBAWABA - A birth described as "rare" has caused widespread shock in India's medical community after a baby was born with eight limbs: four arms and four legs.On Aug. 23, the baby was born to a 29-year-old mother named Rita Ahirwar at a community health center in Lavkosh Nagar, Madhya Pradesh, India. The newborn weighed 3 kilograms at birth and had an extra set of arms and legs attached to his upper chest and abdomen. When Rita's husband, Shivcharan Ahirwar, learned of his child's condition, he rushed to see the baby and described the case as "a gift from God."Doctors were stunned after the baby was born with extra limbs, which were attached to the infant's body. They believe it is a case of "parasitic twinning," according to the British newspaper The Sun.The Sun reported, citing doctors, that this is an extremely rare condition where one twin does not fully develop in the womb but remains attached to the other. The other twin, known as the dominant twin, develops fully but is born with extra limbs, and sometimes even extra organs and tissues.छतरपुर में एक अनोखे बच्चे का जन्म हुआ है। बच्चे के चार हाथ चार पैर हैं। एक तरफ जहां डॉक्टर हैरान हैं वहीं देखने वालो का तांता लगा हुआ है। pic.twitter.com/pWea8bCOtI— pramod kumar (@Pramodkumar9719) August 24, 2026
