Anti-drug awareness programmes were conducted at 62 autorickshaw stands across the city with more than 2,000 autorickshaw drivers and members of the public participating.As part of the government’s continued efforts to eradicate drugs, the Greater Chennai Police are conducting awareness programmes at various locations to educate the public, youth and students about the dangers and health hazards associated with drug use.As part of this initiative, awareness programmes were held on Tuesday at 62 autorickshaw stands in six police districts — Flower Bazaar, Washermenpet, Pulianthope, Anna Nagar, Koyambedu, and Kolathur — under the leadership of Sub-Inspectors.During the programmes, participants were educated about the dangers and harmful effects of drugs, the physical and health problems caused by drug use, and its impact on families. They were also told that public cooperation was essential to make Chennai a drug-free city. Auto drivers pledged their support for the Chennai Police’s anti-drug initiatives and took an anti-drug pledge, vowing to work towards making Chennai a drug-free city.
