Some summer rail disruptions are here to stay even in September

Railway works, the delayed introduction of ETCS and a shortage of train drivers will continue to affect services after 1 September.

Due to railway modernisation works and later the summer heat, state-owned train operator ZSSK has preventively reduced train speeds on the route between Bratislava and Trnava, resulting in longer journey times and delays. Originally scheduled to remain in effect until the end of June, the restrictions were later extended until 31 August.

Now, it seems some of the disruption will continue to affect the timetable after 1 September, reports the daily SME.

Due to works at Bratislava Main Station that have necessitated some closures, all local trains on the Bratislava–Trnava route will terminate at Bratislava-Nové Mesto station, while some trains will continue to be missing from the timetable.

The Považan express train will partly replace them, stopping in both directions at Bratislava-Rača, Šenkvice and Cífer stations, where it does not usually stop. This will extend the journey by four minutes.
