Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB) now trades on Japan’s newest crypto exchange after Nomura’s Laser Digital Japan secured the country’s first new crypto exchange approval in four years.

What the Laser Digital Japan Approval Means

As reported by Cointelegraph on Wednesday, Laser Digital Japan registered as a crypto asset exchange service provider on Aug. 21, ending a four-year period without any new crypto exchange licenses in one of Asia’s strictest regulatory markets.

The platform launches with six assets: Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), Bitcoin Cash (CRYPTO: BCH), Litecoin (CRYPTO: LTC) and SHIB.

SHIB is the only meme coin on that list. The token joined the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association Green List in November 2025, which paved the way for its inclusion alongside blue-chip assets on the Nomura-backed platform.
