Although the unemployment rate remains stubbornly above 10 percent, open vacancies are increasing and employment levels are stabilising.Ronan Browne17:16Finland's unemployment rate slumped to the bottom of the EU rankings around the turn of this year, and the level has remained stubbornly above 10 percent ever since.There were a total of 289,000 unemployed people in Finland last month, with data showing a sharp increase in the number of women looking for work.But amid all the doom and gloom, there have been some signs that Finland's economy, and the labour market, could be about to bounce back.Last week, the number of new job vacancies being advertised by potential employers increased on a quarter-by-quarter basis for the first time in more than four years.There have also been faint rumblings among Finnish economists that a recovery is on the cards.Finland's employment ministry expects to see improvement in the long-term joblessness situation starting now, before the job market returns to more robust growth in 2027 and 2028.After years of frustration, there may finally be some light at the end of the tunnel for Finland's jobseekers.
