Hungary's new government has declared Russia a "threat," marking a significant departure from the pro-Russian foreign policy pursued by former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán over the past 16 years.

The classification of Russia as a threat appeared in a document outlining guidelines for the Hungarian delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in September. The document was signed by Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar and published in the country's official gazette late Tuesday.
"Hungary condemns Russian military aggression and fully supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders," the document states.
It also emphasizes that Hungary recognizes the right of its eastern neighbor to self-defense.
